02nd September 2012
21st. Dec. 2012. It looks as if I WILL NOT be entering the Exhibition in 2013.
I had a bit of a let down with the payment of the prize Money, (also the Plaque)in fact it came Today (2 months overdue) after Many Emails and promises, it arrived as a cheque instead of the EFT as originally promised. I can hear you say 'get a life, get over it, rise above it' I should but this time it really got up my nose for some reason!

The story continues:)

In fact it will be the '173rd. Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society Show', (237th. If you take into account it was held Twice a year in early times!) The actual competition will be the '42nd National Exhibition of Photography'. After missing the Closing Date deadlines for the previous 2 years, I was looking through the list of Competitions in my Bookmarks and found I had two and a half weeks to the closing date.

I spent the next 8-9 days trying to sort out what to put in the 3 Categories I wanted to enter.

Large Colour Print, Open/Pictorial,
Large Monochrome/Colour Print, Landscape/Seascape sections.
Large Monochrome/Colour Nature Print,

They had to be printed, dried, mounted onto card and delivered to the Show grounds. I made it with one day to spare! Although, in the end I decided not to enter the Nature section, next year.

There were Three Judges, each scoring a possible maximum score of 5 points for a total of 15. The acceptance level was 12 points for both sections.

I must admit I was disappointed with two of my favourite prints not making the acceptance level, one scored quite low in fact:( Such is Life.

In the open, Large Colour Print section, 'Burra Storm 2' scored 12 points

Found in the 'Country Scenes' Portfolio.

In the Large Monochrome/Colour-Landscape/Seascape Print section, 'Ethel Beach Surf' scored 12 points,

Found in the 'Water-Salt or fresh' Portfolio.

'Elder Range' scored 13 points,

Found in the 'Flinders Ranges' Portfolio.

And finally, 'Morialta Falls' scored the full 15 points but only managed 3rd Place, oh well!. But I did get $35 for that, but the Really good news was, it gained the "Bowden Group prize ($100) and the S.A.P.F. (South Australian Photographic Federation) Plaque for the Top 'Colour Print that depicted the Australian Land/Seascape'. Nice one!!

Found in the 'Water-Salt or fresh' Portfolio.

All (most) acceptances and all Award winning entries can be seen on display in the South East corner of the Goyder Pavilion at the Show from the 2nd to the 15th of September.

If you get a chance have a look. They will be for sale, re-printed by me, (you can put your order in there, if you want) but it would be a lot easier and quicker to order from this site when you get Home:)!!

You can also vote for any of the above images for the "Peoples choice award" nudge nudge, wink wink:)

Many thanks to all the Sponsors, Judges, RA&HS of South Australia and also, Congratulations to all the successful Exhibitors as well,

until next Year,
